The first written evidence that mentions ther potter profession in La Bisbal d'Empordà dates back to 1.511. Craftsman, creator, artist, almost an alchemist, la Bisbal potters are often the last of a family of potters who have shaped clay for generations. Today, la Bisbal is the capital of the ceramic industry, a pottery center of international reference. The authentic ceramics of La Bisbal de l’Empordà, both utilitarian and decorative, can be easily recognised by their predominant colours (red, straw yellow, bottle green and navy blue).
